Woman Killed In Fatal Martinez Construction Site Accident

On Behalf of | Mar 24, 2015 | Construction Accidents |

San Francisco news reports that a woman was killed in Martinez after a gravel trailer crashed into her vehicle.  According to SF Gate, the 32-year-old woman was parked at a city construction site.   Although a construction worker asked the victim to move her car, before she was able to do so, a semi truck trailer toppled over, crushing her car and killing her instantly.

Cal/OSHA has begun an investigation into the accident.

An initial investigation reveals that the truck was operated by one of the subcontractors working on the city project, JJR Construction.  In 2010, JJR Construction was cited for failing to post the Code of Safe Practices in a conspicuous location.

Whenever construction site accidents occur, especially those involving serious personal injury or death, conducting a thorough review of the contributing factors in critical.  Often, several different parties – such as the owner, a general contractor or subcontractor – may be held liable and required to compensate the victim and his or her family for the harm suffered in the accident.

For example, accidents may occur because the worksite is unreasonably dangerous as the result of the owner or general contractor’s failure to follow proper safety protocols.  Other times, the use of a defective product or machinery leads to serious harm.  In some situations, the negligent conduct of a subcontractor may be the root cause of another’s injury.

Because of the complex nature of construction site accidents, and the numerous parties involved, if you or a loved one has been injured in a construction site accident, consulting with an experienced Oakland construction accident lawyer should be a top priority. For more information concerning construction site accidents, please contact the dedicated California construction accident attorneys at Viadro Law, LLP for an immediate, free consultation.
